BankDhofar has become the first bank to join Central Bank of Oman (and its Oman Net Switch) in migrating to EMV for debit card issuance and transaction processing at the ATM and point-of-sale.
"The launch of EMV technology is yet another initiative by BankDhofar to further enhance our customer experience and to add to the security of the cards and the convenience of using them in ATMs and POS," said acting CEO Abdul Hakeem Al Ojaili in a press release. "We will start issuing Visa debit chip cards for our customers in all BankDhofar branches across the Sultanate through the instant issuance system card technology."
In addition to greater security and global interoperability, the debit cards will facilitate the account-to-account transfer facility that allows BankDhofar customers to transfer up to 5,000 Omani rials ($12,987) to other local bank accounts by entering the recipient's card number at the ATM.
BankDhofar offers a diverse range of ATM services that include cash withdrawal in Arab Emirates Dirham and U.S. dollars at some ATMs, as well as mini statement request, balance inquiry, selffund transfer, third-party transfer and cardless cash withdrawal.
The FI also has an extensive network of cash deposit machines that allow bill payment, mobile phone top-up, donation to charities, credit card payment and check deposit.
