CHICAGO - Bank One will offer customers of its prepaid Direct Card 25,000 surcharge-free ATMs through an agreement with Allpoint, an ATM network with locations in all 50 states.
According to a news release, Direct Card customers already have access to Bank One's own network of 4,300 ATMs.
Employers, colleges and universities, government agencies and other organizations use the Direct Card, a re-loadable, prepaid Visa card, as a means of providing payroll, financial aid reimbursements, grants and other disbursements to their employees or members.
Customers can now use the Direct Card without incurring surcharges when making withdrawals at any ATM with the Allpoint label.
"Prepaid card users can now get their money where it's easiest for them," said Ron Hynes, senior vice president of Bank One Commercial Card Services, in the release. "It makes the Direct Card program even better."
According to the release, the Direct Card provides instant access to funds, comes with Visa's Zero Liability protection, can be used to withdrawal cash from ATMs or retail bank branches and to make purchases anywhere Visa debit cards are accepted.
Allpoint has more than 25,000 ATMs in national and regional merchant locations across the country such as Costco, Winn-Dixie, Circle K, ExxonMobil, Duane Reade, Sunoco, Giant, and A&P. The ATMs are operated by E*Trade Access and Cardtronics.
