Bank of America is celebrating the United States' 250th anniversary through a $5 million gift to the Theodore Roosevelt Presidential Library. It will use these funds to preserve its collection of photographs and exhibitions related to Theodore Roosevelt's presidency, according to a press release.
The library is set to open on July 4 in Medora, North Dakota, within the Badlands region, which Teddy Roosevelt explored as a young man.
"Bank of America has grown alongside our country by helping people, businesses of every size, and communities prosper," Brian Moynihan, chair and CEO of Bank of America, said in the release. "The Theodore Roosevelt Presidential Library — and the Kennerly exhibition on the modern presidency — reflect Theodore Roosevelt's belief that strong leadership and democratic institutions drive economic opportunity. We commend Secretary Burgum's leadership, from his time as governor to today, in advancing a vision that links history, civic responsibility and long‑term prosperity."
This sponsorship builds on the bank's existing dedication to historic preservation such as the Smithsonian's National Portrait Gallery. The bank is supporting its preservation efforts on the 110 presidential portraits and frames as part of the America's Presidents exhibit.
