BAI RD: Fiserv provides mobile banking offer to The Family Credit Union
November 2, 2009
Brookfield, Wis.-based Fiserv Inc. announced during BAI's Retail Delivery Conference & Expo in Boston that The Family Credit Union ($89.9 million in assets) is now providing mobile financial services through Fiserv's Mobile Money.
Fiserv will be exhibiting at RD at booth No. 417.
According to a news release, The Family Credit Union is now allowing its members to access Mobile Money through any mobile device using SMS or a mobile browser; the credit union plans to launch a downloadable application in the future.
With Mobile Money, members can check balances and review account history, move money between accounts, pay bills and receive pre-set account alerts. The service is free. "Mobile phones are an integral part of our daily lives, and we wanted to bring our members the convenience of managing their finances while on the go," said Sandra Sheffey, president and chief executive of The Family Credit Union. "Our initial expectation was that the Mobile Money service would appeal to our Gen Y members, but we are seeing strong interest among Baby Boomers and some of our older members as well. These easily accessible mobile financial services are appealing to a wide range of members."
During the first 30 days of availability, more than 100 members signed up to use the mobile banking service, and adoption is steadily growing, The Family Credit Union says.
