NEW ORLEANS -- Automated Technology Machines, Inc., a privately-held corporation that provides turnkey ATM placement services, has changed its name to Innovus, Inc.
J. Michael Brown, president and chief executive officer, said the new name better reflects the more diverse direction being taken by his company, which currently has more than 650 ATM locations in 41 states.
"The changes occurring within the ATM industry, as well as our own corporate diversification into a broader array of value-added services related to the EFT industry, led us to choose a name which aligned us less with the basic ATM industry and more with the broader arena of emerging EFT services not only in the U.S. but internationally," he said.
He added, "We don't want to distance ourselves from the ATM business, but we don't want to limit ourselves either."
Brown said that the old name also sometimes led to confusion, since many other ISOs incorporate some combination of those words in their company names. "I'd get calls from customers saying they had talked to me the week before when in reality we hadn't spoken for several weeks," he said.
