Raiffeisen Bank Group, Austria's largest financial institution, will deploy 1,200 new Diebold Nixdorf ATMs equipped with advanced bill payment and contactless functionalities, the company announced in a press release.
Once the machines are installed, customers will be able to pay bills at the ATM by scanning the QR code on a bill, then using the machine's touch screen to change or confirm information from the scanned item.
Customers with NFC-capable cards will be able simply to tap their contactless card on the machine's reader to initiate a transaction, rather than having to insert their card into the machine.
These enhancements will make it possible for the bank to deploy future applications that enable smartphone-ATM interaction such as a cardless cash function in which the smartphone replaces the bank card, the release said.
"With our investment in this state-of-the-art technology, we are acquiring future-proof solutions for the self-service channel for the next decade, and can continue to develop our offers in line with the wishes and needs of our customers," said Stefan Sandberger, a member of the board at Raiffeisen Bank Group.
Raiffeisen Bank Group has planned initial installations for early next year, to be followed by a complete rollout.
As a global technology leader and innovative services provider, Diebold Nixdorf delivers the solutions that enable financial institutions to improve efficiencies, protect assets and better serve consumers.
