The Sydney Morning Herald:Major banks in Australia are in talks with the Chinese government about giving Chinese tourists access to Eftpos terminals in Australia.
At least three of the big four banks have held talks with representatives from China Union Pay, an agency established by the Chinese government in 2002 to modernize the country's card payments system. It represents a consortium of financial institutions covering about 800 million debit cards and up to 80 million credit cards.
