A series of coordinated bomb blasts at ATMs and railway facilities across the Pakistani province of Sindh left several people injured — one critically — and caused disruption of banking and rail services.
The Tribune in Pakistan said in a report that no group had come forward to claim responsibility for the bombings, but they were widely believed to be carried out by the Sindhu Desh Liberation Army, a group that calls for the secession of Sindh from Pakistan. The group's pamphlets were found at attack sites.
All but one of the blasts occurred outside branches of the National Bank of Pakistan. The odd blast was at a bank authorities believed to have been mistaken for an NBP branch, The Tribune said.
The attack shut down NBP banking services for a few hours, causing protests, The Tribune said. However, a spokesperson for the NBP regional head, Latif Ansari, said that all branches continued to provide regular services except ATMs.
