ATMIA maps out plans for future European conferences

June 14, 2016

As ATM Marketplace reported last week, the decade-long conference partnership between the ATM Industry and Association and RBR will end later this year.

In the wake of this news, ATMIA CEO Mike Lee has issued a statement to clarify the association's plans for future industry events in Europe:

ATMIA created the European ATMs and ATM Security events back in 2001 and it goes without saying that the association will continue to produce these two important events for the foreseeable future. The industry will continue to see them in their traditional calendar slots for years to come.

Beginning in 2017, the association will jointly host events with its new conference partner, Reconnaissance International, a provider of technical and business intelligence for secure documents, personal identification, authentication and cash.

"Reconnaissance has a strong pedigree and lots of energy," Lee said. "The combination of their knowledge base, worldwide contacts and deep conference experience with our nonprofit mission, knowledge and track record of serving the industry will produce an excellent synergy which will benefit the industry in the coming years."

Significantly, the partnership will kick off in a year that marks the 50th anniversary of the ATM and the 20th anniversary of ATMIA — both of which will be commemorated and celebrated at the European ATM event.

Also beginning in 2017, European ATMs and ATM Security will be rebranded as follows, respectively:

  • ATM & Cash Innovation Europe 2017, June 13-14, 2017 (Lancaster Hotel, London)
  • ATM & Cash Security Europe, Oct. 17-18, 2017 (Lancaster Hotel, London)

The flagship European event, ATM & Cash Innovation Europe 2017, will build on the success of European ATMs as it brings together retail banks, independent ATM deployers, network processors, vendors, cash management and service providers, the ATMIA said. ATM & Cash Security Innovation will maintain the focus of its predecessor on security, fraud, countermeasures to crime and international best practices.

ATMIA and Reconnaissance will continue to hold ATM & Cash Innovation Europe exclusively in London, while ATM and Cash Security Europe will be held in a different European city each year.

ATMIA-organized regional conferences also will continue, and will adopt the ATM & Cash Innovation brand, and will broaden in focus to include innovation across the entire cash cycle. Conference locations in 2017 will include Asia, Latin America and South Africa; in 2018, they they will include Australia, Canada and the Middle East.
