ATM Solutions joins South African organization to fight crime

April 13, 2011

ATM Solutions, South Africa's largest independent ATM deployer (IAD), today announced that it has joined the South African Banking Risk Information Centre (SABRIC), which was formed by the nation's banks to fight crime.

The organization's principle business is to detect, prevent and reduce organized crime in the banking industry through effective public-private partnerships. Its clients include banks and cash-in-transit companies.

"As a leading role player in southern Africa's ATM banking sector, becoming a member of various reputable industry associations such as SABRIC has always been a priority for us," said Wayne Abramson, CEO of ATM Solutions, which is based in Johannesburg. "Not only because it provides us with a platform to actively participate in various external organized crime detection and reduction initiatives, but also because it is an extension of our compliance and security strategy, in which we strive to take a proactive approach toward ATM crime and card-fraud detection, among others."

Kalyani Pillay, CEO of SABRIC, said ATM Solutions' membership will further strengthen the collective efforts of the ATM industry to fight crime.

"We are really pleased to have ATM Solutions on board, and we are certain that their participation in the ATM industry's crime prevention structures that SABRIC hosts will play a significant role in the reduction of organized crime," Pillay said. The organization is based in Midrand, a section of Johannesburg.

ATM Solutions deploys more than 4,000 off-premises and bank-branch ATMs for multiple banks throughout South Africa.
