ATM advertising provider i-design shows financial gains in '08, but still in the red

December 8, 2008

NEWPORT-ON-TAY, Scotland — I-design Group PLC, which provides the third-party ATM-advertising solution known as atm:Ad, says preliminary financial results for fiscal year 2007/2008 show improvements. For the year ended Sept. 20, i-design reported revenue of £2 million (U.S. $3 million) and a net loss of $536,000 (U.S. 792,000) — up from the £1.03 million (U.S. 1.52 million) in revenue and net loss of £591,000 (U.S. $873,000) reported in FY 2006/2007.

According to i-design, the financial gains may be attributed to an increase in ATM-advertising contracts and an expanded international reach. ATMs available for third-party advertising increased more than fourfold, from 1,000 ATMs to 4,500 ATMs.
The total number of ATMs licensed with atm:Ad at year-end was 12,000 units, and the company got its first overseas win for atm:Ad in May 2008. And Media sales income represented a 50-percent increase in number of brands booking campaigns on ATMs.

The first ever multinetwork ATM advertising campaign also was signed in June.

"Since the launch of atm:Ad in 2004, we have seen the business develop rapidly and I am pleased to report on further substantial progress over the year," said i-desing chairman Jim Faulds. "Our offering, both in terms of our technology and the scope of our services, is highly differentiated. Uniquely, our product, atm:Ad, can be integrated into existing software networks and installed on any type of ATM. … This integrated approach is unparalleled in our industry to date and a major attraction for ATM owners."

Faulds says i-design now has third-party ATM advertising agreements with three major U.K. retail banks.
