ATM advertising gets attention in Australia, and from Volkswagen

July 20, 2009

Scotland-based i-design, which owns the atmAd platform, has launched its ATM advertising services in Australia, offering the country's banks an opportunity to deliver third-party advertising campaigns to generate additional revenue.

Ana Stewart, the chief executive of i-design, says the launch represents a market expansion for the company:

"We are very excited by the interest that has been shown by the individual banking networks in Australia. They have already seen atmAd successfully deliver new advertising revenues on behalf of major network owners in the U.K."

Launched in 2004, atmAd campaigns include promotions for brands such as Vodafone, Coca Cola, British Airways, Orange, Nivea, Nestle and Hewlett Packard.

Another win for ATM advertising came in this month from Volkswagen, which signed on for atmAd July 13. The advertising will run for four weeks, displaying digital ads on the screen and printing take-away message on receipts at selected petrol stations across England.   Lisa Humphrey, the media manager of Mediacom, which is overseeing the content, says the deal made sense for Volkswagen and the petrol stations where the ads are being promoted:

"Volkswagen's efficiency campaign is designed to help customers save fuel and cut emissions. The ATM advertisements are part of a wider, integrated advertising campaign, which also includes press, online and a variety of outdoor formats. The atmAd campaign is expected to reach some 3 million drivers across 562 petrol stations during the period."
