ASAI brings ATM processing in-house

February 23, 2004

TORONTO - Smart Processing Solutions Inc. (SPS), a new division of Canadian transaction pocessor TNS Smart Network Inc. that will serve the United States market, is helping launch Data Stream Inc, a new division of Automated Systems America Inc. (ASAI), a California-based ISO.

According to a news release, ASAI has licensed TNS' Smart Processing Suite, and will use the software for ATM driving and debit/credit card transaction processing. While currently processing under ASAI, Data Stream expects to be fully operational by March 1.

"I can't comment enough on how important it is to work with a company like SPS that understands our business and offers implementation on our own time schedule." said John Steely, president of ASAI. "We need to have a substantial infrastructure in place to offer the level of services our customers expect…. trust in that relationship and in the product is essential."

Kent Cain, ASAI's West Coast operations manager, said that real-time reporting facilitated through SPS will help ASAI improve its customer service. "We will no longer have to wait for someone else to research where our customers' money is settling. SPS provides answers immediately."

"More control means that as a company, we can be more effective", said Steely. "In addition, we can now better determine the value of the services provided instead of having that imposed on us."

According to the release, the Smart Processing Suite drives more than 10,000 ATMs across North America.

ASAI currently provides processing for more than 1,800 ATMs throughout the U.S. and Canada.
