ANZ bank, which was hit hard earlier this year by skimming fraud, is looking into the possibility of using finger scans for ID at ATMs, thus preventing such scams.
According to Australia's Daily Telegraph, ANZ conducted a survey of customers about the possibility of using biometric data rather than pins and the idea was well received.
Research commissioned by the bank revealed that 79 percent of customers would be amenable to use of their fingerprint as an ATM identifier. ANZ CEO Philip Chronican told the Daily Telegraph that he was surprised at the willingness of customers to accept the technology.
