BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - AmSouth Bank has renewed its contract with Visa USA for signature-based debit, added Interlink PIN-based debit and has chosen Visa Debit Processing Service (DPS) and Pulseto handle the bank's PIN-based debit processing.
The bank will continue to use Pulse for processing ATM transactions and will also use Visa's Plus network.
AmSouth's move comes on the heels of Wells Fargo's decision to switch to Visa from Concord EFS for ATM processing and use Visa's Plus network rather than MasterCard'sCirrus. (See related story Wells Fargo to use Visa for ATM transactions)
According to a news release, AmSouth will begin implementing the new network arrangements in early 2004. Cards branded with the Visa Interlink and Pulse logos will be sent to customers starting early in 2004.
