American State Bank signs with S1's Postilion for mobile banking iPhone app
September 20, 2009
Postilion, a division of S1 Corp., has announced the launch of its S1 Mobile's iPhone application — a unique user interface that is now part of Postilion's suite of banking and payments solutions. Postilion announced the launch of the mobile-banking application through a deal signed with American State Bank.
The growing use of mobile applications, Postilion says, makes the new application a worthwhile tool for financial institutions of all sizes. More than 1.8 billion applications have been downloaded from the App Store, where more than 75,000 different applications are available. Mobile-banking applications have frequently held top positions in the finance category for free App Store applications, Postilion says. Industry statistics from AdMob show that iPhone customers spend, on average, more than 80 minutes each day using applications on their iPhones. Every time a user selects an application to run, the FI can reinforce its brand by having the FI logo on the iPhone as one of the potential applications. Beyond brand recognition, Postilion says the ability to download a mobile banking application reinforces the concept that consumers' banking needs can be met anytime, anywhere. David McCulley, executive vice president and chief information officer of American State Bank, says mobile banking is a must-have for American State Bank customers:
We are experiencing growing demand for mobile banking in our markets and anticipate even greater penetration of users with the increasing use of smart phones, particularly the iPhone. As a leader in our market, we are thrilled to partner with S1 to be among the first community banks to offer an iPhone application for mobile banking.
Some of the S1 mobile-banking features include account-balance checking, funds transfer, bill payment, reporting stolen cards or being connected to a voice-banking system. Customers also can search for local bank branches and ATMs using GPS and can view Google Maps inside the application. Johann Dreyer, S1 Corp.'s chief executive, says the iPhone mobile-banking application is the newest addition to S1's family of FI solutions:
We are excited to offer an iPhone mobile-banking application as the newest addition to our family of solutions for the S1 customer base. Since its launch, customer pilot programs and experiences have been extremely positive, and we have seen increased interest for the feature across the markets we serve.
