Allpoint signs agreement with Univision MasterCard

January 10, 2011

Allpoint Network and Univision MasterCard Prepaid Card have signed an agreement that enables Univision cardholders to have surcharge-free access to Allpoint’s ATMs.

Univision MasterCard Prepaid cardholders will have access to Allpoint’s 35,000 ATMs in the United States and Puerto Rico. The ATMs are housed in 7-Eleven, Target, Costco and other leading retailers.

Allpoint’s deal with Univision MasterCard Prepaid follows a similar agreement MasterCard Worldwide signed with Cardtronics Inc., a Houston-based ATM ISO, and Allpoint’s parent company. The contract provided Prepaid MasterCard issuers and program managers an opportunity to expand their ATM footprints through the Allpoint Network. Allpoint’s deal with MasterCard Worldwide, however, gives cardholders access to 32,000 ATMs within the United States.

Scott Scovel, vice president of Univision’s Prepaid Financial Services, said he is happy to form a partnership with Allpoint.

“Allpoint was a natural partner, given our objective to help Univision cardholders manage their money,” Scovel said. “The presence of Allpoint ATMs at many retailers that Hispanics frequent will provide a valuable and convenient benefit to our cardholders.”

Univision Communications Inc. is a Spanish-language media company. Its operations include Univision Network, the most-watched Spanish-language broadcast television network in the United States, reaching 95 percent of U.S. Hispanic households.

“Our Spanish language-enabled ATMs will help make the Univision prepaid card the sought-after solution for cardholders seeking fee-free access to their cash, enhancing adoption of the card in the marketplace,” said Ben Psillas, president of the Allpoint Network, which has its headquarters in Bethesda, Md.

Allpoint operates 40,000 ATMs worldwide in the United States, United Kingdom, Puerto Rico and Australia.
