Dallas-based processor Affiliated Computer Services has appointed Jeffrey A. Rich, its president since 1995, to CEO.
Rich succeeds Darwin Deason, who has served as chairman of the board and CEO of ACS since he founded the company in 1988. Deason will continue his duties as chairman of the board, as well as chairman of the ACS Executive Committee.
"We have the good fortune to be in a dynamic industry with great clients and committed employees, and we have all of the ingredients for a bright future," Rich said. "We have a strategy and business philosophy that is working well in the marketplace, and I see no reason to change our focus or direction."
Deason said, "Jeff's contributions since he joined ACS have been felt at every level of the company, and he has been highly instrumental in driving ACS' growth. Jeff and I will continue to work closely together, although Jeff will shoulder most of the day-to-day responsibilities."
