American Banknote Corp, a provider of secure payment and ID solutions, and MeaWallet, a provider of cloud-based payment services, have formed a strategic partnership to deliver open-loop mobile wallet solutions to ABnote customers. According to a press release, the cloud-based MeaWallet mobile payment platform is now fully integrated into the ABnote EMV payments platform, providing a simple path to EMV-based payments.
The partnership gives ABnote customers the ability to add branded mobile wallets and cloud-based digital mobile payment cards to their portfolio of card products.
The digital mobile payment cards use tokenization and host card emulation technology for payment security. End-users simply tap their smartphone at a merchant's NFC-enabled POS terminal to complete payment. The service will work at all merchants that accept MasterCard PayPass and Visa payWave transactions.
"[O]ur customers will have a faster route to mobile payments, using new innovative products such as customer-branded mobile wallets," ABnote CIO John Ekers said in the release. "We look forward to enabling many new and interesting mobile payment projects together with our customers around the world."
