7-Eleven to cash tax refund checks at some Vcoms

June 28, 2005

DALLAS - H&R Block clients seeking a convenient option to cash refund anticipation loan checks can now do so at a Vcom financial kiosk at participating 7-Eleven stores.

The convenience store chain has designed an expedited process exclusively for H&R Block clients to approve checks, up to $7,500, and will provide clients with a competitive check-cashing fee, according to a news release.

More than 1,000 H&R Block offices are participating in the refund program. The program is available at participating 7-Eleven stores equipped with Vcom kiosks in Arizona, California, Colorado, Washington, D.C., Florida, Oregon, eastern Pennsylvania, Dallas-Fort Worth, Austin-and Killeen-area stores in Texas, the Salt Lake City area of Utah, Richmond and southeastern Virginia and Washington state.

Vcom financial services kiosks are currently located in more than 1,000 7-Eleven stores. The self-service machine allows customers to cash payroll, tax refund and government checks; conduct ATM transactions; make money transfers, and purchase money orders and stored-value cards.

The kiosks offer bi-lingual, touchscreen menus for easy navigation and multi-lingual, 24-hour customer service from a phone at the kiosk.

"Nearly 22.2 million households in America don't have checking accounts," said Tim Gokey, president of U.S. Tax for H&R Block. "When it comes to cashing a check, they need to have choices to select a service that is trustworthy, convenient and offers a fair and competitive price. 7-Eleven is one of several convenient, low-cost check-cashing options we're providing our clients this year to help them keep as much of their money as possible."
