A group of thieves broke into five businesses in Chicago, stealing property and two ATMs. In each incident, up to four people arrived on the scene, smashed a window or a door and entered, according to a report by CBS News.
The incidents took place at The Bettle Bar & Grill, Toons Bar & Grill and other businesses. At Toons Bar & Grill, two men attempted to steal the ATM, but they were unable to as the ATM was bolted to the floor. The store was still damaged from its smashed windows.
"There's a lot of places that are hurting that this could be the straw that breaks them. Maybe they don't have the money to get through something like this with all these other costs," Danny Beck, owner of Toons, said in the report. "It's just really important in Chicago to get out there and support them."
It is uncertain if the crimes were connected.
