1,600 new ATMs help RBS Citizens customers 'Bank Better'

March 11, 2014

As part of its Bank Better initiative, RBS Citizens Financial Group has completed a new round of upgrades serving Citizens Bank and Charter One customers. The new technologies will increase customer convenience across ATM, branch and mobile channels, the FI said in a news release.

"Our customers have told us that they want to be able to bank when, where and how they want," said Brad Conner, vice chairman of consumer banking. "With these new platforms now in place and delivering for our customers, we look forward to being able to offer even more convenience in the future as the technology continues to evolve."

The Bank Better project was launched as an effort to make banking simple, clear and personal for Citizens Bank and Charter One customers. The new features include:

  • Deposit-accepting ATMs — 1,600 new machines offer envelope-free deposits and receipts with images of deposited checks; customers can make deposits as late as 10 p.m. on a business day and still have them credited that day.
  • New mobile bill-paying features — customers can now manage billers and make P2P payments using an email address, mobile phone number or account details.
  • Paperless branch transactions — the customer can initiate a transaction at the teller station via swipe-and-PIN. Not only is this easier for the customer, but it's also easier on the environment, eliminating 72 million paper forms per year.
