The world of self-service is transforming and AI is at the forefront.
By integrating AI tools into self-service kiosks, ATMs and vending machines, operators can proactively handle repairs while also offering customers personalized recommendations. A panel of experts will examine predictive kiosks and how they can leverage AI for service and data-driven decisions at the Automated Retail & Kiosk Innovation Show being held in Tampa, Florida from Dec. 10 to 12.

Kiosk Marketplace reached out via email to session moderator, Ben Wheeler, director of bus dev-automated retail at T-ROC, to learn more about the panel talk and the topic focus.
Q. What are some practical ways AI can improve kiosks?
Wheeler: AI can be used to accommodate for accessibility and adhere to section 508 of The Rehabilitation Act. Bottom line is that your kiosk will service people with all kinds of disabilities. Blind, deaf, colorblind even the inability to read. Which happens to be the number one disability in the world.
Q. Do you think AI is in anyway over-hyped? Why or why not?
Wheeler: I don't think it's over-hyped in any way shape or form. AI has changed the way that we do business. It's helped us to put our thoughts into coherent structures in just a few keystrokes. And, it allows us to have a better quality of life. How is that not translatable onto a kiosk or a automated retail vending platform? AI doesn't call in sick, doesn't treat your customers poorly, upsells product automatically. And, it is able to answer questions in real time with definitive answers that are always able to either resolve concerns or complete transactions.
Q. What is one thing you are most excited to share during the panel?
Wheeler: AI is changing the landscape of self-service automated retail. We are going to have avatars that draw us into the transaction rather than moving the line. We're going to meet people's needs.
