Microsoft plans to end support of Windows XP on April 8, 2014. After this date, the software company will no longer provide security updates and patches for Windows XP, creating an uncertain environment for ATM security.
In a presentation titled “The Roadmap for the Global Migration of the ATM Industry to Windows 7,” KAL CEO Aravinda Korala addressed this situation at this year’s ATMIA Africa Conference.
He’ll revisit the topic in a Dec. 12 webinar, presented by ATM marketplace. The one-hour session will explore the complexities and cost implications deployers must consider when planning the migration of their ATMs to Windows 7.
Additionally, Korala will share mitigating strategies for banks that do not plan to migrate to Windows 7 prior to the deadline, instead continuing to operate Windows XP-based machines.
Korala will also offer his analysis of results from the ATMIA Migration Readiness survey, which collected the views of 73 respondents with regard to their current situation vis-à-vis Windows 7 migration.
