Wyoming raises ATM surcharge cap

December 6, 1999

CHEYENE, Wyo. -- The Wyoming Banking Commission has approved raising the state's cap on ATM surcharges from $1 to $1.50, according to the Associated Press. The only comments received on the proposal were from banks, who were in favor of it, according to state Banking Division projects coordinator Marlene Aitchison. At the direction of the Wyoming Legislature this year, the division conducted a study of ATM fees and found that no financial institution breaks even on the $1 fee level. Banks still have the option of charging nothing or less than $1.50.
