PADERBORN, Germany - Banking customers will be able to withdraw larger cash sums than normally permitted on ATMs outside branch operating hours with Wincor Nixdorf's ProCash/FOnet solution, which allows a bank's call center staff to authorize cash withdrawals at the bank's own ATMs.
This product was shown for the first time at the recent European Banking & Insurance Fair, according to a news release.
Using Wincor Nixdorf's call-center-assisted cash withdrawals concept, banking customers call the bank's call center, identify themselves with their account number and PIN and order the required sum. Taking due account of the customer's overdraft limit, the call center agent uses the ProCash/FOnet solution to authorize payment of the withdrawal. For security reasons, the call is recorded.
Bank customers can collect the cash at any one of the bank's connected ATMs -- albeit they must adhere to a time limit set by the bank, during which the withdrawal may be made. If the sum is not collected within the given period, the transaction is cancelled during the end-of-business account reconciliation process.
According to the release, Integrating call-center-assisted withdrawals can also enhance the attractiveness of self-service-only branches, with customers of these branches also able to gan access to sizeable sums of cash on short notice.
