December 13, 2009
ATM Community reports that Wincor Nixdorf AG is expanding its retail banking strategy in Nigeria, with plans to open a logistics center that will handle warehousing and the dispatch of spare parts for self-service systems, such as ATMs. The logistics center will deliver to the entire Nigerian market, and thereby significantly improve parts supply processes and service customers' delivery needs faster than ever before.
ATM Community caught up with Wincor Nixdorf during the logistics center's opening ceremony in Lagos:
"We see Nigeria as an attractive growth market, and plan to invest in our partner network and optimized service processes in order to improve the availability of our systems for banks," said Wolfgang Kuenkler, vice president for product related services at Wincor Nixdorf.
Wincor Nixdorf will run the logistics center in Nigeria together with its strategic logistics partner, C. Woermann, Hamburg/Lagos.
"Our partner Woermann has played the Nigerian market for 60 years and can be relied on to provide a professional and swift logistics service from Germany to Nigeria and back," said Ralf Wendt, senior partner manager at Wincor Nixdorf.
The logistics center stocks spare parts needed for repairs in Nigeria.
The new logistics center in Nigeria is expected to make it possible for Wincor Nixdorf to develop and expand its service offering in the region.
Wincor Nixdorf has installed ATMs in 23 of Nigeria's 25 banks. Nigeria's number of installed ATMs has risen 120 percent over the past 12 months.
