Wincor Nixdorf deploys anti-skimming module for ATMs

PADERBORN, Germany - Wincor Nixdorf is now supplying a security module offering effective protection against fraudulent manipulation of ATMs.

According to a news release, the so-called anti-skimming module is installed in the machine and uses special sensors to check the entire card slot area for any devices which may have been attached subsequently. Where any suspicion arises, the machine is shut down immediately.

The module is imperceptible from outside the machine. Its work in developing this kind of security technology won Wincor Nixdorf the "ATM Security - Best Technology Award 2003" last year from ATMIA.
