Wincor Nixdorf builds digital sign for German bank

September 9, 2010

Wincor Nixdorf AG has installed a digital sign inside a Berlin branch of Deutsche Bank to assist customers in learning about the bank’s financial products and services, said Christian Hotz, a bank spokesperson.

The digital sign, which is composed of three panels, each 80 inches in diameter, was installed Thursday inside a Deutsche Bank branch, used as a laboratory to test new products, Hotz said.

The middle panel has a touch screen, which enables customers to learn about Deutsche Bank products based on their investment risk.

“Savings accounts have a very low risk, but stocks may have a high degree of risk,” Hotz said. “There also is information about long-term and short-term investments.” Customers also can link information from the digital sign to their smart-phones, he said.

The digital sign is “an innovative way of making banking a tangible experience for customers,” said Frank-Rainer Nitschke, who is in charge of Deutsche Bank’s customer banking experience and processes for private and corporate customers. “This new application acts a magnet for visitors, boasts a customer-oriented design, and can, if the customer wishes, act as a bridge to a one-on-one conversation with a customer advisor.”

Stefan Auerbach, Wincor Nixdorf’s executive vice president of banking, said digital signage reinforces brand communication.

“It gets customers interested and channels their curiosity. By allowing customers to actively select the information content they want, digital signage helps make their visit to the branch an entirely new experience,” Auerbach said.

Wincor Nixdorf, the world’s second-largest ATM manufacturer based on shipments, is based in Paderborn, Germany.
