AUSTIN, Texas -- Wincor AutoTell, a majority-owned subsidiary of ATM manufacturer Wincor Nixdorf, has introduced ATWeb, a multi-vendor Web-enabling software for ATMs. The software, part of a growing family of self-service software from Wincor AutoTell, is designed to enable ATMs to perform Web-based e-commerce transactions.
According to a news release, with the combination of ATWeb and Wincor Nixdorf's ProCash 1100 ATM, the two companies believe they have the lowest cost Web-enabled solution for the self-service industry.
Like all members of Wincor's ProCash family, the ProCash 1100 has a standard PC and runs on a Windows® NT operating system. Standard equipment includes a 10.4-inch LCD screen and stainless steel soft keys.
Bill Waugh, president of Wincor AutoTell, said in a news release that ATWeb has its own toolkit, which enables users to design applications themselves so that they are not dependent on any single vendor.
According to the release, with ATWeb all files can be downloaded via industry standard Web protocols, and all ATMs can pull application content from a central Web server. Because ATWeb is based upon Microsoft Internet Explorer, it supports HTML, DHTML, XML, Java and various multimedia formats.
ATWeb also supports dial-up based connections, according to the release. A single modem can be used to dial either the Web server for e-commerce transactions or the host processor for standard ATM transactions.
According to the release, Wincor AutoTell staff can provide consulting services on the ATM and back-end server sides of an ATM deployer's Web application.
