Wincor AutoTell software now monitoring more than 4,000 ATMs

September 26, 2002

AUSTIN, Texas -- Wincor AutoTell, a majority-owned subsidiary of German ATM manufacturer Wincor Nixdorf, says that it is now monitoring and managing more than 4,000 ATMs worldwide using its AT View software, either directly or through Wincor AutoTell's AT Observ Service.

According to a news release, Wincor AutoTell recently renewed a contract to monitor more than 1,000 ATMs for a single customer; the customer was not identified in the release. AT View customers include Valero Energy Corporation, Bank of Ireland, Banco Santander-Colombia and E*TRADE Access.

Wincor Nixdorf last month announced a contract to supply 1,200 of its ProCash 1500 ATMs to Valero, the owner of Diamond Shamrock Corner Stores, Stop N Go and other retail chains. (See related story Wincor Nixdorf to supply 1,200 ATMs to Valero) Wincor also supplies ATMs deployed by E*TRADE Access at Target stores. About 1,000 ATMs were involved in that deal, announced in April of 2001. (See related story E*TRADE gets exclusive ATM contract with Target)

The AT View monitoring software runs on Microsoft Windows NT or Windows 2000 and works in conjunction with specialized agent software running on the ATM, according to the release. AT View's functions include the ability to command the ATM to remotely perform diagnostics and even repair itself, in many cases, without a dispatch. It also has event management, software distribution and advertising management capabilities, along with reporting capabilities for fleet and vendor management.

"As part of Wincor AutoTell's AT Observ monitoring service, our customer service engineers use AT View to proactively manage ATMs, increasing system uptime and enabling efficient servicing - which in turn reduces the total cost of ownership," said Bill Waugh, president of Wincor AutoTell, in the release. "The software allows system administrators to diagnose and service the ATMs remotely. If a service dispatch is needed, AT View retrieves information from the ATM that can help the technician quickly repair the problem."
