Wincor AutoTell rolls out multi-vendor ATM advertising software

September 16, 2002

AUSTIN, Texas -- Wincor AutoTell, a majority-owned subsidiary of ATM manufacturer Wincor Nixdorf, has introduced AT Play, multi-vendor advertising software for ATMs. The XML-based software is designed to display advertising and dispense coupons at the ATM, regardless of vendor.

According to a news release, AT Play allows multiple advertising campaigns to be delivered on an ATM, with a delivery schedule based on day, week and specific point in an ATM transaction. It can be used to schedule advertising on any PC-based ATM running Windows NT that has the AT Play agent installed on it.

According to the release, the AT Play advertising model is based on campaigns and products. Each campaign contains one or more advertising products (including video, graphics, sound clips and coupons), and the campaigns can be delivered on pre-defined schedules. For example, an ATM owner can play a specific campaign from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday, Wednesday and Friday, during the "please wait" part of a transaction.

"Because of the detailed reporting and tracking capabilities, advertisers can now measure the effectiveness of their campaigns on the ATM and justify the use of the ATM as a vital delivery channel for marketing," said Bill Waugh, president of Wincor AutoTell.

AT Play includes the following features:

A statistics collection feature called AT View, which collects advertising statistics and events, such as number of plays, plays missed and schedule changes. Advertising can be tracked and billed at the campaign and/or product level;

A software developers kit that allows the software to query schedule configuration data from a remote database, query advertising content from a remote server and deliver advertising statistics and events to a remote server;

The ability to establish a campaign schedule for each financial product and configure for delivery at specific delivery points during the ATM transaction, such as the idle loop or "please wait" screen.
