The Inquistitr recently reported the strange case of a Portuguese immigrant who was robbed while getting cash at a drive-through ATM in Philadelphia.
The man was reaching for his dispensed bills when he was approached by an armed robber who demanded the money. The immigrant handed over the cash and then peeled out of the drive-through in a panic.
Once safe at home, the robbed man realized that he'd left his debit card at the ATM. Since he'd seen the robber flee with the money, he assumed that it would be safe to return to look for his card.
Wrong assumption. When he returned to the ATM, he found the same robber brandishing a knife. But rather than run away, this time, the Portuguese immigrant ran into the robber with his car.
He then got out of his car, searched the dazed man's pockets, retrieved his money and his debit card and drove away.
The details all came out in a police investigation, and were verified by the ATM camera. The robber is in the hospital recovering, and will be charged with robbery upon his release. The Portuguese man will not be charged, as police say he was merely defending himself.
