WFS to address Check 21, impact on imaging at expo

April 10, 2003

MOSINEE, Wis. -- Andy Kurtz, a senior product manager at Wausau Financial Systems (WFS), will speak about industry and regulatory changes related to imaging technology and the Check Processing for the 21st Century Act (Check 21) at the upcoming Virginia Bankers Association Bank Technology Expo, April 16-17 in Charlottesville, Va.

"Legislation, technology and market factors are driving significant changes in the payment system. Today, more than ever, financial institutions have important decisions to make regarding technology and how that technology will impact the entire organization," said Kurtz in a news release.

Kurtz will dicuss how the passage of Check 21 will help financial institutions reduce fraud, minimize check handling expenses, accelerate funds collection and plan for transaction migration. He will also address electronic image exchange and imaging at the branch, teller line and ATM, and share his thoughts on image archive, statements and Web access.

According to the release, WFS and NetDeposit, a company that accelerates check processing through image exchange and image replacement documents (IRDs), have products available to handle the new regulations when Congress passes the proposed Check 21 act, which many industry watchers expect to happen this year.
