WFS, Dunbar Armored partner on item processing to offer Check 21 benefits

January 11, 2005

MOSINEE, Wis. - Armored transportation company Dunbar Armored and Wausau Financial Systems (WFS), a provider of distributed point-of-presentment capture and processing solutions, have formed an alliance designed to enable retailer merchants and banks to capitalize on the operational and financial benefits of recently enacted Check 21 legislation.

According to a news release, the new service will enable retail and bank customers of Dunbar Armored to have checks and other deposit items electronically scanned, processed and transmitted from any one of Dunbar's 30 cash vault locations across the United States.

Dunbar Armored customers may now experience operational improvements such as improved funds availability, an expanded day for funds credit at their depository bank and the opportunity to consolidate banking relationships and reduce associated fees.

The DigitalDeposit solution from WFS captures items of deposit at remote locations throughout the U.S., accomplishes complete image processing of each item, then electronically transmits balanced and proven batches to the client's depository bank for final account processing determination.

"By utilizing Dunbar's national transportation network and enhanced item processing facilities, our commercial customers can experience accelerated funds availability while simultaneously limiting unnecessary, multiple bank relationships," said Paul Sobus, Dunbar Cash Vault and ATM Services' senior vice president. "Additionally, our bank customers can expand their geographical footprint and customer base quickly, without incurring the steep capital costs and time delays traditionally associated with entering new markets."
