Wescom Credit Union, based in California, has removed non-sufficient funds fees for checking accounts. The credit union also offers overdraft options for members such as setting up a share or loan as an overdraft source or Courtesy Pay as an overdraft line, according to a press release.
"At Wescom, we believe in doing what is right for our members — they always come first," Ralph Bautista, VP of deposit operations at Wescom Credit Union, said in the release. "With this in mind, we have decided to no longer participate in this outdated and unpopular practice of charging a fee for a transaction that did not create an overdraft balance."
In addition, Wescom doesn't charge any minimum checking or savings account fees.
