This week, authorities in Australia arrested a man suspected of attempting to blow up ATMs.
Operative word: "attempting."
According to an online report by Stuff, the 50-year-old Sydney man allegedly used improvised explosive devices in no fewer than 10 ATM attacks carried out between mid-December and mid-January — every one of them a failure.
Apparently, though, the suspect was persistent, if not particularly bright. A search of his car by police turned up additional explosives, indicating that he might have intended to keep up the ATM safe-cracking effort.
Bail was denied.
