According to a news release, the move was in response to hundreds of inquiries from police and other law enforcement agencies in the UK and elsewhere.

The new page, prepared in co-operation with the police, forensic science representatives and the security industry, offers advice on what to do when stained notes are recovered and how to make further inquiries.

"The members of Banknote Watch are committed to helping all law enforcement agencies when stained notes come into their possession and to provide a 'one-stop' shop when further inquiries need to be made," said Web site manager Hilaire O'Shea. "The creation of the new Web page is part of that process and will be continually updated as new developments take place within the industry."
