July 9, 2003
DAYTON, Ohio -- NCR Corporation's (NYSE:NCR) operating results for the quarter ended June 30 will exceed current expectations.
According to a news release, NCR expects its second-quarter net income will be 6 cents to 9 cents per share. Analysts had forecast a loss of 4 cents a share.
Revenue for 2003's second quarter is expected to be approximately $1.37 billion, in line with analysts' expectations and down 1 percent from 2002's second quarter.
According to a Bloomberg report, NCR benefited from a weaker currency even as its sales suffered. NCR, which got almost a third of its sales from Europe, the Middle East and Africa in 2002, got a 6 percentage point boost from currency-exchange rates in sales for the first half of 2003.
NCR will release final second-quarter results July 24.
