US Bancorp invests in digital assets company Ownera

U.S. Bancorp is joining a funding round for Ownera, a tokenized asset fintech. Ownera aims to allow financial institutions to connect asset tokenization platforms to blockchains, private distributed ledgers or traditional ledgers, according to a press release.

With Ownera, financial institutions can trade or invest into digital assets with instant transaction settlement and transfer of ownerships.

"This investment will allow us to play an important role in shaping the future of capital markets, one where issuers and institutional investors have more real-time visibility into assets and can more efficiently transfer ownership and settle transactions," Jim Kelligrew, vice chair and head of corporate and commercial banking, U.S. Bank, said in the release. "Our goal is to provide our capital markets clients a more streamlined experience, helping them save time and money, all while experiencing unprecedented transparency."
