You know that old saying: "Marry in haste, repent at Leavenworth."
A Grasonville, Maryland, man was indicted by a federal grand jury this week for a series of crash-and-grab ATM thefts from convenience stores in a three-state area.
In at least five incidents over two months last fall, the indictment said, Matthew Dale Bush "stole an ATM machine and its contents by smashing the glass door with an object and attaching a chain/rope to the ATM and a truck and pulling the ATM through the front glass with the truck."
Despite this flurry of activity, he still found time on Oct. 15 to marry his partner in crime, Crystal Lynn French, also of Grasonville, according to a report by the Baltimore Sun.
It was a short honeymoon. After breaking into a c-store on Oct. 22 and stealing 86 packs of cigarettes, according to authorities, the newlyweds held up a bank in Baltimore County on Oct. 23 and were captured after a brief car chase.
The bride was released on bail this week pending trial on charges of conspiracy to commit offenses against the United States, aiding and abetting bank robbery, and interstate transportation of stolen vehicles. The groom remains in the Baltimore County Jail on those and other charges.
