Universal Money chooses Pi Systems for Triple DES upgrades

SHAWNEE MISSION, Kan. - Universal Money Centers Inc. has signed a deal with Pi Systems' for Pi's 3 DES Fix Triple DES upgrade kit.
According to a news release, the kits will be used to upgrade most of Universal Money's NCR ATMs. The decision came in first quarter 2007 after Pi Systems tested the functionality of the kit on Universal Money's in-house Tandem data center.
Universal Money, a single-source solutions provider for ATM network management, said the additional diagnostic capabilities of Pi's Triple DES solution made the Pi solution attractive.
"The added diagnostic features Pi brought to the table - the ability to actually see the communications interface through the LEDS present on the Control Module hardware - and the ease of upgrade to new firmware and software features via USB thumb drive helped make the install process virtually seamless," said Joe Phillips, Universal Money's director of communications.
