Otero-Warren was the first female superintendent of the Sante Fe, New Mexico public schools. She was able to fight for better conditions for New Mexican women and raised standards for New Mexico public schools.

"The fourth coin in our American Women Quarters Program honors Nina Otero-Warren, a courageous advocate for women, children, and Hispanic and Native American communities," Ventris C.
