The United States Mint has announced it will ship the fourth coin in its American Women Quarters Program on Aug. 15, according to a press release. These coins will feature Nina Otero-Warren, a 20th century suffragist, educator, politician and advocate for Hispanic communities in the U.S.

Otero-Warren was the first female superintendent of the Sante Fe, New Mexico public schools. She was able to fight for better conditions for New Mexican women and raised standards for New Mexico public schools.
"The fourth coin in our American Women Quarters Program honors Nina Otero-Warren, a courageous advocate for women, children, and Hispanic and Native American communities," Ventris C. Gibson, director of the Mint, said in the release. "This quarter is designed to reflect the breadth and depth of accomplishments by Nina Otero-Warren who overcame challenges and obstacles she faced during her lifetime."
