CHICAGO -- The need for financial services organizations to better understand the customer is the focus of the Bank Administration Institute's (BAI) Retail Delivery 2000 Conference in New Orleans, Nov. 28-Dec. 1.
The conference agenda features industry experts including: Richard Vague, chairman and CEO, Juniper Financial; Andrew Lipman, Ph.D., founding member and associate director, MIT Media Lab; Pete Knight, chairman and CEO, CheckFree Corporation; Sukhinder Singh, co-founder and vice president, Yodlee, Inc., Terry Savage, financial author and journalist; Kenneth T. Stevens, chairman and CEO, Retail Group, Bank One Corporation; Clyde Ostler, group executive vice president, Wells Fargo & Company; and Philip Evans, senior vice president, Boston Consulting Group.
"This year's conference focuses on the key elements that are driving the financial services industry today -- new technology, a new breed of consumer, and the organizational implications they hold for financial services companies," said Thomas P. Johnson Jr., president and CEO of BAI.
BAI will present preliminary findings of a major strategic research project at the conference. Thursday's general session, "Consumer 1.0: Redefining the Demand for Financial Services," conducted with The Cambridge Group, will highlight BAI's consumer research into consumer attitudes and preferences in purchasing financial services. Focusing on profitability challenges in retail banking, BAI and First Manhattan Consulting Group will offer perspectives into the key competitive environmental and business challenges affecting retail revenue growth from their joint research, "Challenges to Retail Revenue Growth." In addition to the general sessions, the agenda includes 20 concurrent sessions led by senior financial executives who will cover issues such as Internet and ATM integration, wireless technologies for retail banking, new payments strategies, CRM, organizational and customer change management, new delivery networks and performance and profitability.
Twenty pre-conference workshops include an Executive Roundtable, which will discuss best practices in building a sales culture from BAI's sales research, "Survival on the Front Line: Best Practices in Building a Sales Culture," which was conducted with Xchange, Inc. (Nov. 27, 8:30 a.m.).
The conference exhibit hall will feature more than 350 of the industry's providers, showcasing the latest in retail delivery technology solutions.
