UK's Link Network admits independents

March 4, 2002

LONDON -- ATM deployers Moneybox Corporation Ltd., Securicor, Infocash, Hanco Systems and TRM Corporation have become the newest members of LINK, the UK's national ATM network.

This marks the first time that independent ATM providers have been allowed to become members of the LINK Network without a sponsoring bank, and reflects the LINK rule change announced by panel members in February 2000.

Moneybox, Securicor and Infocash are British companies, while Hanco and TRM are American entries to the market.

"With the entry of independents into the ATM market, this will result in greater competition in the market which in turn will offer wider choice to the public. With direct membership to LINK, this opens our horizons in providing convenient cash facilities to the public in a wider range of locations in towns and cities around the UK," said Paul Stanley, managing director of Moneybox.

TRM Director Phillip Carr said, "Membership of the Link Network will enable us to offer our services to individuals in additional locations across the UK. As our expansion continues throughout the year, more customers will have the opportunity to access their money in a safe, indoor environment."

According to Link Executive Director John Hardy, "Additional ATM operators on the Link network will be beneficial to consumers as it will result in more machines being installed, especially in those locations currently without access to an ATM."
