The United Bank for Africa Ghana has introduced a new service that allows cardless withdrawal of funds from an ATM by a third-party recipient.
UBA announced the cardless withdrawal program, along with two other new services, this week from its office in Accra, said a report at My Joy Online.
UBA Ghana managing director and CEO Oliver Alawuba said that the additional new services would allow customers of the bank to pay bills for utilities and DSTV at the ATM, and also top off their phone service.
UBA head of product sales Abu Yahaya demonstrated the cardless withdrawal service, showing how a customer can use the bank's U-mobile platform to send funds by a number of means — through the ATM, via mobile phone, or by completing an e-remit slip at a bank branch.
Once the sending process is complete, the receiver is notified via mobile. The receiver then goes to the nearest ATM, keys in an access code and amount of money to be received, and receives the dispensed funds.
