MUMBAI, India -- Two Indian banks, Indusind Bank and State Bank of India, have plans for major expansions of their ATM networks in 2002, according to a report in The Asian Banker.
Indusind Bank, a private sector financial institution established in 1994, recently installed its third off-site ATM at Anna Nagar and plans to have 25 off-site machines by March 2002, according to the bank's Web site.
State Bank of India, which currently has 100 ATMs in seven cities, intends to expand that number to 1,000 by the end of 2002.
In addition, State Bank of India is in discussions with several other financial institutions about opening up its network so that customers of these banks can use each other's machines.
