WOODCLIFF LAKE, N.J. -- Two Chicago-area financial institutions, LaSalle Bank and ShoreBank, have signed long-term agreements to participate in the NYCE network.
According to a news release, the signings are evidence of NYCE's efforts to enhance network participation in the Chicago area. After gaining a Midwest presence with its 1999 acquisition of the Michigan-based Magic Line Network, NYCE opened an office in Chicago in May of 2001. Currently, NYCE network participants operate 3,335 NYCE-branded ATMs in Illinois.
During the past year, several financial institutions including Citibank and Bank One added the NYCE brand to their Chicago-area locations, according to Joe Makarewicz, NYCE vice president, Network Sales and Relationship Management.
Makarewicz noted that the signings of the two institutions bring benefits to existing participant institutions of the NYCE network, whose cardholders in other states will find more NYCE-branded ATM locations available to them when they travel to Illinois. He called it "a positive snowball effect in the way each additional signing strengthens the entire network."
