Zaman Online: The Turkish banking sector has strengthened with economic stability. The total assets increased last year by 36 percent on a U.S. dollar basis to $253 billion, and by 23 percent on a Turkish lira (YTL). The total profit of the Turkish banks in the first six months reached $4.2 billion, a rise of 75 percent. Turkey's number of bank-owned ATMs reached 14,175 in the first half of 2005.
