New transaction capabilities give customers more transaction options at the ATM
RESTON, VA May 22, 2002 - As automated teller machine (ATM) points of presence are nearing saturation in the United States, merchants are searching for new ways to serve their customers and to help increase foot traffic and revenue at off-premise ATMs. Transaction Network Services (TNS), one of the world's
leading providers of fast, cost-effective data communications services for transaction-oriented applications, today announced that it has joined in a multi-vendor relationship formed by the NCR Corporation. The Convenience Connexions™ Alliance provides new transaction functions to customers by enabling ATMs to cash checks and process money orders and wire transfers."We are extremely happy to be working in partnership with TNS to bring these new services to our customers," said Phillip Kasper, assistant vice president
, NCR Financial Solutions division."ATM owners are looking for ways to enable ATMs with additional transaction services and to increase revenue and foot traffic to them. With our Convenience Connexions ™ program, we are giving consumers new transactions of value to conduct at ATMs, as well as giving ATM owners a solution to increase their profitability and differentiate themselves to retail site owners."As one of the partners enabling these new ATM functions, TNS is providing the network backbone through the use of TNS' nation-wide, secure, IP transaction network, TNS Connect. TNS Connect is a dedicated, private IP-based network that transports ATM transactions to the required processor hosts, while adhering to the highest security standards. During the transaction process, TNS Connect routes the information over its secure IP network to the appropriate partner in order to complete the transaction.
"We developed TNS Connect to provide a secure, efficient means of transporting data to meet the emerging requirements of the ATM industry," says Larry Crompton, senior vice president and general manager of the TNS Point-of-Services Division. "This new partnership with NCR exemplifies how our products and services are one step ahead of the rest in providing a nation-wide secure network to quickly and efficiently process ATM transactions."
